How to tame your hamster

Even though children love hamsters, these animals are not tame by nature. Do you want to adopt or buy a hamster, but don't know how to tame it? These tips will help you make your hamster more social.

Food to tame your hamster

If you want to make your hamster more social, you can use its food as bait. Let the hamster smell you and the food you are giving him. Due to its strong sense of smell, you can motivate this animal quickly by using its favourite food. With the Nature feed and snacks you give it a rich mixture that is part of a healthy feeding plan.

When you let your hamster eat out of your hands, it will start to trust you more and more. You don't succeed right away? No problem. Then put the food down and try again the next day. You will see that it will come closer every time.

Patience is a virtue

It is completely normal that you don't see much of your hamster in the beginning. Imagine you arriving in a new environment, with new scents and new people! Hamsters by nature hide from predators. That is why you should provide some hiding places in your hamster's cage. Hamsters in general are crepuscular animals. That is why they'd rather be left alone during the day.

You will need some patience to tame your hamster, but you should respect its behaviour and give your hamster time to explore. Stress only makes everything more difficult.
